Kindness Pledge

--

Middle class India’s pandemic dilemmas (penned in April 2020)

They don’t work, why should we pay?

Because the wider circumstances are At bay!

The time is difficult for us All

But deep within us

We know that once again we shall stand strong and tall!

So with foresight, wisdom and compassion we act

And do not any wages retract

As we tide though turbulent times

Facing uncertainty in every line

We fight fear with courage adamantine

With blessed comfortable lifestyles

We have still enough to Live

And a bit we can easily Give

In dire cases might we slash, not annul wages

Winning clarity of conscience for ages

This inner battle is no mystery

More like a collective challenge of history

To hone our graciousness

To check for selfishness

To reinforce the path of kindness

So let us save lives around

Then will harmony truly abound!

A legend too emphasises compassion

Have you heard the inspiring rendition

Of the poor woman with no greedy disposition?

She gifted her half mango which was all she had

To one who was starving, frail

And having eaten the mango of selfless generosity

On the benevolent woman, etherial peace did hail

With trust in a beautiful Future

Let us with confidence Nurture

And enter The Kindness Pledge’s Aperture.
